Impact of Urbanization on Landuse-Landcover, Land Surface Temperature and Urban Heat Islands using Multispectral Satellite Images: An Implication in the District Towns of Northwestern Bangladesh

The urbanization processes and its keen relationship with the spatio-temporal variability of land use-land cover (LULC), surface temperature urban heat island (HI) within district towns in Rangpur division Bangladesh has been assessed using multi-spectral Landsat satellite images from 1991 to 2021.The supervised classification approach was used retrieve LULC types such as water body, built-up area, bare land, agricultural vegetation cover. results suggest that have decreased during last 30 years study areas. shows an average increase area increased progressively 2021. Conspicuously bodies, lands reduced due expansion rapid growth settlement areas or urbanization. Land Surface Temperature (LST) over responsible for development islands (UHIs) is mono-window algorithm. areal extents UHIs are spreading out day by become most extensive Correlation HI LST indicated lower zones were found vegetated whereas higher highly towns. Ground truth data validated well image processed overall 86.25% accuracy which indicates a good level detected images.
